History

The first Lindehoeve Suffolks arrived in February 1995. They where 2 carrying ewes from the Mastenbroekerpolder (Holland). In Mai of the same year 4 more ewes where bought from the Penningshoeve in Enter (Holland). In the fall of 1995 also some sheep from the Vijzelesch
of the herd of Pierre Wolfs in Eext (Holland) where added. Our first ram was bought in June 1995: Boris van de Penningshoeve.

In the next years to come some more ewes where bought from the Vijzelesch, we also kept our own bred ewe lambs. Through time our herd has grown to 70 ewes mostly by using Vijzelesch blood through ewes and rams.In 2004 we took of for the first time to England. Here we purchased the ram Starleader at the Crosemanorfarm of Robyn Hulme, in the middle of England. Unfortunately Starleader became ill and died after covering all our ewes.

In summer 1995 we went back to Crosemanorfarm to get our second ram. With Dicovery we have more luck. He has covered our herd for two seasons now.

In the fall of 2005 and 2006 we went to several sheep auctions in Ireland and England. Here we bought several ewes, ewe lambs and rams from the farms of Herbert Stanley, owner of the Bowhogne herd, Tom Baylee’s Glenho’s herd en again from Robyn Hulme, Crosemanorfarm. All animals that fit our herd and bring in extra quality.

In 2008 we went to the National Sale in Shrewsbury and bought there the ram Cairness Charmeur. Next to this we also bought Bentley K42 of the Bentleyherd. Now in 2009 we have a herd of approximately 40 ewes and 5 rams.

We choose the name “Lindehoeve” (linde = lime tree), because in 1995 we started herding sheep and at the same time we planted the lime trees around our farm
